Sand Rose | Anacampseros Rufescens

Sand Rose, scientifically known as Anacampseros Rufescens, is a charming succulent with delicate rosettes of fleshy leaves that range in color from green to purple, often with a silvery sheen. This low-growing plant forms dense mats, making it an excellent choice for ground cover in succulent gardens or rockeries. Sand Rose is prized for its attractive foliage and drought-tolerant nature, making it a favorite among succulent enthusiasts and collectors.

Plant Care Needs

• ☀: Place in full sunlight to partial shade. Sand Rose thrives in bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate some direct sunlight, especially in cooler climates.

• 💦: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly, approximately every 10-14 days, depending on environmental conditions.

• 🪨: Plant in well-draining succulent or cactus soil mix. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. We recommend Tits & Grit Cacti & Succulent Mix!

• 🌡️: Hardy in USDA zones 9-11. Thrives in temperatures between 60°F to 80°F (15°C to 27°C) during the growing season. Protect from frost and extreme temperature fluctuations.

• ☁: Adapted to low humidity environments. Does not require additional misting.

• ✂: Propagate from offsets or stem cuttings. Allow cuttings or offsets to callus before planting in moist, well-draining soil.

• ⚖: Low maintenance. Suitable for beginners and experienced growers alike.

• 💭:

  • Fertilize sparingly with a balanced fertilizer diluted to half strength during the growing season (spring and summer).
  • Prune any dead or damaged leaves to maintain the plant’s appearance and health.
  • Protect from overwatering, as Sand Rose is susceptible to root rot. Ensure proper drainage and avoid leaving water in the pot saucer.
