Weeping Jade | Senecio Jacobsenii | Trailing Jade
Senecio Jacobsenii, commonly known as “Trailing Jade” or “Weeping Jade,” is an attractive succulent with trailing stems adorned with elongated, fleshy leaves. The leaves are a vibrant green color, tinged with shades of pink or purple along the edges, adding a touch of elegance to any hanging basket or container garden.
Plant Care Needs
• ☀: Place in bright, indirect sunlight. Senecio Jacobsenii prefers at least 4-6 hours of sunlight per day but can tolerate partial shade.
• 💦: Allow the soil to dry out partially between waterings. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry, approximately every 10-14 days, depending on environmental conditions.
• 🪨: Plant in well-draining succulent or cactus soil mix. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. We recommend Tits & Grit Cacti & Succulent Mix!
• 🌡️: Thrives in temperatures between 60°F to 75°F (15°C to 24°C). Protect from frost and extreme temperature fluctuations.
• ☁: Adapted to low humidity environments. Does not require additional misting.
• ✂: Propagate from stem cuttings. Allow cuttings to callus before planting in moist, well-draining soil.
• ⚖️: Low maintenance. Suitable for beginners and experienced growers alike.
• 💭:
- Fertilize sparingly with a balanced fertilizer diluted to half strength during the growing season (spring and summer).
- Prune leggy stems to encourage bushier growth and maintain the plant’s shape.
- Avoid overwatering, as Senecio Jacobsenii is susceptible to root rot. Ensure proper drainage and allow excess water to drain away.
